PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Project Development:
Project Development begins with good projects. Good
projects begin with solid foundations. Solid foundations begin with
excellent communication. These principles are fundamental to successful
Project Development. The best project poorly communicated will take
longer to develop and cost more. We, at EnerTech
Services, strive to provide the clearest, most
concise, and above all else accurate communications during project
development.
Establish Goals:
Before we begin to develop projects we will gain a clear
understanding of the customers goals. In order to do this, we believe
that it is imperative to assemble an interdisciplinary team that can
efficiently address all aspects of the technical analysis process.
The team should include on a full or part time basis all stakeholders
in the changes to come and EnerTech
Services. The team should strive to work openly,
inventively and diligently towards a successful technical energy solution
that fits all requirements of the Energy Saving Performance Contracting
(ESPC) process. It is imperative that the knowledge, expertise, and
background understanding of the client guide the technical analysis
and help arrive at the best possible solution.
Establish Baseline:
The establishment of the baseline is essential to project
development. Are we working with utility costs only or are there some
O&M costs that should be evaluated as well. Has the base year’s
weather been normalized? Have all available commodities been included?
We, at EnerTech Services,
can bring this baseline into focus. This would include a thorough
evaluation of all utility tariffs affecting the project. A clear understanding
of the utility tariffs is essential to the baseline evaluation process.
Technical Analysis:
The technical analysis process begins once the goals
and the baseline have been established. This is not to say that these
values are fixed, but they should at least be well founded. Each proposed
Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) should be screened for potential
and compared against the mix of other related ECM’s to see what
the net effect of all will be. A Scope of Work for each discipline
involved in each ECM should be written and delivered to prospective
sub-contractors. Their responses will be used to establish cost.
The team should review every assumption made during
this development phase. Conclusions are easier to sell if all the
variables are agreed to previously. EnerTech
Services will comprehensively define all viable
scenarios and help select the most appropriate solution. This process
helps to keep measurement and verification costs to a minimum.
Measurement and Verification:
Measurement and verification is a two-step process.
The baseline assumptions should be measured and the post-installation
consumption should be verified. Data logging is the preferred method
to measure loads over time. We, at EnerTech
Services, are capable of data logging everything
from lighting to the most complex HVAC systems.
Project Delivery:
EnerTech Services
will help you deliver your project on time and in a format that your
customer can understand. Our goal is to help you put together a project
that meets the customer’s expectations while at the same time
minimizing risk and maximizing profitability.
