Solar Feasibility Studies
A solar feasibility study is recommended to evaluate the cost effectiveness
of utilizing solar photovoltaic or solar thermal technology as a replacement
or supplemental power source for an on-grid or stand-alone application.
The study would include:
· An evaluation of the average and peak energy
requirements
· Recommendations for reducing energy use
· A comparison of solar alternative to more traditional alternatives
· An estimated system sizing for cost comparisons
· An estimation of first cost and annual operating cost for
each alternative
· A discussion of environmental benefits and financial incentives
available.
The study can usually be done with information gathered
by phone/fax from the system owner. Larger systems or systems requiring
integration with existing power systems may require a site visit.
Solar System Design and Specification
A solar system design can be done for the purpose of securing and
subsequently evaluating bids from solar vendors. The system design
would be based on load requirements established in a feasibility study.
A site evaluation would be done to assure solar access. The design
would include a detailed parts list and specifications for the major
components. Drawings would be provided to facilitate assembly of the
system on site. Grounding and lightning protection schemes would be
specified.
Solar Leasing Program
Remote customers can benefit form solar photovoltaic energy systems.
Remote homes, stock water pumps and remote telecommunications sites
are proven applications where the solar option costs less than line
extensions or fossil fuel generators. As a utility you can help customers
overcome the high initial cost of solar with a lease to own program.
EnerTech Services
can help design a program to assure quality installations for the
customer and set a lease rate that provides a proper return to the
utility.
